John S. “Jack” Robertson

Builder | Event hosting, facilities planning

Abbotsford Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2017

Of Jack Robertson’s numerous contributions to the community, a lasting legacy from his position as chair of the 1995 Western Canada Summer Games is the Legacy Sports Centre at Exhibition Park, completed in 2002. The building sits on the apron of another facility he played an instrumental role in creating – Rotary Stadium at Exhibition Park. Robertson also helped create the first eight-lane regulation running track in Abbotsford, completed in the late 1960’s at Abbotsford Senior Secondary.

Robertson’s contributions to sport began with a 30-year career in coaching, officiating, and event hosting in athletics, and then expanded to key sport leadership roles. He was president of PacificSport Fraser Valley and co-chair of PacificSport BC, and served as a director on a number of boards of governance for sports organizations in the community.

Robertson’s vision to create a lasting legacy to honor the athletes, coaches and builders of Abbotsford led to the building of the Abbotsford Sports Hall of Fame as an integral part of the Legacy Sport Centre.
