Lori ClarkeBasketball - inducted in 2010Lori competed as a youngster in many sports but by Grade 11 & 12 at Abbotsford Senior Secondary, she concentrated on and excelled in basketball with numerous MVP awards. But this was only the beginning, in 1984 she transferred from Eastern Washington University to the University of Victoria where in a span of three years, the team won two National titles and a 2nd place. While playing for UVic, she also made first Team All Canada and was recognized as the Outstanding Player of the Year for 1987. During her years at UVic, she also played on the National team and helped Canada win a bronze medal in Moscow at the World Championships in 1986. Lori spent the years 1989-96 playing professionally for various teams in Europe, while still playing for the National team. Lori's leadership qualities are exemplified by her being chosen captain of the 1990 National Team which finished 7th in the World Championships. She has continued in basketball after her playing career by coaching at UBC and Prince of Wales High School in Vancouver. |
